Ally Bruser is an artist, educator, and mom living in South Bend, Washington. In addition to her studio practice, Ally Bruser is dedicated to increasing access to arts and arts learning experiences for youth. Bruser is a certified teacher with over 20 years experience teaching in both rural and urban settings. She believes in the transformative power of arts, and is excited for the opportunity to share it.

“I started making shapes like these a couple years ago. Around the same time, I was learning a lot about the reality of our economic system. I learned that the richest 1% have more wealth than the bottom 95% of the world’s population put together. I learned that the system was designed this way - to increase profits exponentially at the expense of everyone and everything. At the same time, I was seeing people around me, working harder than ever yet unable to meet their basic needs. It was clear that the system was failing us, and perhaps it always had been. The dream I was sold as a kid was beginning to fade away.

There is despair in letting go of a dream we were sold for so long. The path can become obscured as we no longer cling to that unobtainable vision of prosperity. Yet as we learn to let go of it, an unburdening happens. You realize the problem isn’t you, but rather, we’re living in a system that is failing you. Empathy emerges. Hope. Unity. This show is about leaning in to letting go so that we can create a new vision for human thriving, together.”
