Bill Atwood
For the past 10 years, my work has been primarily figurative found object sculpture inspired by my family, with an occasional oil painting making rising to the surface.
More recently, glass and steel have been my primary focus. I enjoy the challenge of incorporating glass together with steel. Generally, a sense of place or emotional content drives the creation of each piece and I strive to have that come through in my work.
I have been an artist my entire life, creating a studio space in every place I have lived. I received a degree in Art from Eastern Oregon University in 2005. In 2015 I returned to Astoria with my family where I was raised. In 2022 I was awarded the Coastal Oregon Artist Residency which further spurred my interested in found object sculpture. My work has been shown widely throughout the Pacific Northwest.
I currently work out of my home studio in Astoria, Oregon and am a co-founder of Confluence Studio Gallery.
